My name is Nate Stout, and I’m running to represent District 38 in the Indiana House of Representatives, covering all of Tipton and Carroll counties along with parts of Cass, Clinton, and Tippecanoe.
I was born at Tipton Hospital in 1981 and grew up as a country kid, with long bus rides to Washington Elementary and even longer smoke filled car rides to to Windfall to spend time with my grandparents, Bill & Eileen Findling. They were farmers who taught me the value of hard work, commitment and being financially responsible, some would say conservative.
At our small school, we learned resilience early. Bigger schools sometimes called us “hicks” or made fun of our love for all things pork, but we let our athletics and our pride in who we were do the talking. Those experiences built my character and my belief in small-town values.
For over 20 years, I’ve worked in corporate America with brands like Callaway, Odyssey, Minn Kota, and Humminbird. It’s been a great career, but my heart has always been here in Indiana.
I’m also a proud dad. Like many parents, I’ve experienced the challenges of balancing career/business travel, family, and personal growth. I’ve even walked through a divorce, and I’m proud that we built a healthy, supportive relationship for the sake of our kids. It taught me patience, perspective, and the importance of working together even when life gets complicated.
The values I learned in Tipton are the same ones shared in towns like Windfall, Kempton, Delphi, Michigantown, Burlington, Flora, and Russiaville. Now that I’ve settled back in western Howard County, I see challenges we can’t ignore. Our public schools are underfunded, rural healthcare is harder to access, and too many jobs don’t pay a living wage.
I’m running because I believe government should work for all of us, not just a few. I want to listen, learn from your experiences, and fight to rebuild the small-town institutions that made Indiana strong.
The future is bright if we choose the right path. Let’s light the way together.
I’ll be out in the community, visible and responsive, as I work to earn your vote in 2026. Thank you for reading and for believing in Central Indiana’s future.
Sincerely,
Nate Stout
